STUDENT LIFE As an eager learner and follower of Jesus Christ, the ACTS student will be nurtured in various aspects of spiritual and social development. There are many opportunities for fellowship, encouragement, and prayer that promote balanced spirituality. The student will find a warm, caring, Christ-centered community of believers who are dedicated to individual growth as well as cultivating the furtherance of the Gospel. DEVOTIONAL LIFE Chapel Cell Groups Church Attendance STUDENT MINISTRIES Student Ministries provides practical, hands on experience in a variety of ministry settings. Students learn the vital power of prayer and how to work as a team as they minister together on outreaches. Key areas of focus may include: Servanthood, Ministry in the Local Church, Evangelism, Organizing and Planning in Ministry, Teaching/Discipling, Walking by Faith, and Team Ministry. In addition, every student is required to participate in a short-term foreign missions trip. CONDUCT/STUDENT LIFESTYLE What We Expect of You On-campus students at ACTS are required to abstain from practices that are forbidden in Scripture, such as dishonesty, profanity, pornography, and immorality (including sexual relationships outside of marriage and acts of homosexuality). They are also responsible to guard themselves against sinful attitudes: jealousy, pride, hatred, gossip, prejudice, impatience, and worldliness (Galatians 5:19-21). Love is the principle we seek to live by, honoring others above ourselves and not engaging in behavior that might be a cause for stumbling or offense especially in the areas of the use of alcohol, nonprescription narcotics, hallucinogenic drugs and substances, and tobacco throughout their enrollment at ACTS. Lastly, we ask that students be careful not to participate in activities that desensitize their conscience or hinder spiritual growth. Therefore, discretion should be used as to forms of entertainment students enjoy, such as: movies, video games, books, music, and television programs. Dress Code Cheating and Plagiarism When written work is assigned, students are required to complete the assignments using their own initiative and creativity. Any thoughts or ideas borrowed from others must be given appropriate credit according to generally accepted literary rules. Penalties for cheating and/or plagiarism will be at the discretion of the instructor for the course, and may include, but not be limited to, failure of that course. Sexual Harassment Statement Sexual harassment involves any unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and/or any other unwelcome verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature if such conduct has the effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. If at any time you feel you are being sexually harassed, you should immediately contact the Dean of the College or the Administrator. The college will promptly investigate and seek to resolve any complaints of harassment that are brought to its attention. To promote the college’s goal of prevention and resolution of sexual harassment issues, all the staff, employees, and students are urged to report any perceived problems to the appropriate parties as quickly as possible. FAMILY LIFE ACTS encourages students to seek the support of their marriage partner and/or family members before enrollment. Supporting the student’s family life is a priority of ACTS, whether it be married, single-parent, blended families, or single life. Students need to recognize the sacrifices to be made while attending ACTS in order to establish their priorities so as not to neglect their families. We do not recommend full-time students who are married or who are single-parents to work a full-time job while attending ACTS. |
